On Sunday, May 25, 2025, we will be performing a military appreciation concert in honor of Memorial Day, our fallen soldiers, and all those who have served in the military, past, present, and future. Bring your loved ones and any veterans you know to come enjoy an evening of beautiful music by two talented young ladies, their director/pianist, and three local musicians. Honoring our Heroes by Memorial Day – Volunteer Headstone Cleanup
Volunteers needed to join Nuvision Credit Union Alaska and the American Legion Post 1 to clean Veteran headstones in time for Memorial Day.
HONORING OUR HEROES- HEADSTONE CLEAN-UP FOR MEMORIAL DAY
To honor our Veterans laid to rest at the Anchorage Memorial Cemetery, our Nuvision Alaska team is partnering with American Legion Jack Henry Post 1 for the 4th year in a row to clean headstones in time for Memorial Day. It is our goal to acknowledge the true meaning of Memorial Day, which is to pay our respects to those who sacrificed their lives while defending our nation.
We are asking for our members and the community to come together to support this project. Hundreds of gravesites are in need of maintenance and many headstone markers are overgrown with sod. We hope to pay tribute to these soldiers by making their names be seen and recognized.
The Legion’s Auxiliary and the VFW will be placing American Flags and Crosses at each gravesite to indicate which veteran headstones to be maintained.
We will have tools on hand but we encourage bringing your own if you prefer:
- Gloves
- Tools to cut sod: Lawn knives, Boxcutters and carpet cutting tool. Pruning saws
- Hand tools: trowels, pruners & cultivators
- Scrub brushes (natural or nylon bristles, no plastic or metal)
- 5 gallon bucket
- Water jugs & spray bottles (no pressure washers)
This is a great opportunity to pay respects and to giveback this Memorial Day weekend. You are welcome to bring your family or friends, the more volunteers we get, the larger impact we can make. All volunteers are invited to Post 1 for a reception after the cleanup.

Image Home Furnishings will be offering some free family fun over Memorial Day weekend, with a massive bounce house obstacle course, free hot dogs, chips, candy, and soda/water outside our store. All completely free of charge! We will be there from 10:30am-6pm daily, serving food and fun! (more)
